In this article I will like to emphasize that having a YouTube presence can do wonders for your blog. YouTube is owned by Google and is the second biggest search engine of the world. Since YouTube is a product by Google so Google also looks for ways to promote YouTube and a YouTube video is always ranked higher. However just like blogging being successful on YouTube also requires effort and time. As in my other article where I have explained why bloggers fail, same goes for YouTube as well.
If you are reading this article, one thing is sure that you want to be successful on YouTube but maybe you are missing that spark and motivation which is required to help you keep going.
YouTube not only brings revenue through ads but it’s also great source of affiliate marketing. People are earning huge money by reviewing various products in their video and having affiliate links in the description or annotation.
You can also use YouTube to redirect users to your website, your e-book, your online course and the possibilities are in finite.
Not only this if you become successful on YouTube and have a good fan following companies will approach you with money to review their product or maybe some might even ask you to say a couple of good lines about their product in one of your videos.
Now we’re not talking about going viral here but YouTube in the long run. However I would still like you to go online on Google and search while videos go viral. There is even an amazing Ted talk for this.
Being successful on YouTube as per me requires two key ingredients and those are
we need to understand here that being successful on YouTube comes from three things
Your video gets shared
People like your video or click on the like icon to be precise
People subscribe to your channel because the more subscribers you have the easier it is for you to get views on your new videos.
Understanding human behavior is very important here but you do not need to go ahead and do a research on this instead you can analyze your self and understand what kind of videos you share. Try and recall when you shared or liked a video what was that he emotional reason behind your action.
Another point which I mentioned is hot topic and this is self-explanatory. For example if I talk about one of the topic which is hot and trending now is cloud computing and there are other hot topics too but just to give you an idea that creating a video on cloud computing today will be more beneficial than creating a video on Java programming maybe.
Now as a beginner you might not need to concentrate on the video and audio quality but in the long run, slowly you will have to improve your skills on video production as well. You will need to master the technical aspects of video recording software which you will be using if in case you are creating just screen cast but if you’re creating a talking head video then you need to have understanding of camera as well. You can even outsource or hire a professional for video editing as well and this is what I recommend too. Because I would like you to concentrate on the content and presentation in the video. These things might look difficult in the beginning but slowly and automatically you will start to have a hang of these. There are also tons of beautiful videos available online on YouTube to learn these skills for free.
Like any new business to become successful you need to understand that your video should either be solving a problem or adding value.
Last but not the least, I would like to emphasize again that it’s a long-term journey and people fail because they give up early. Secondly you should never ever try to copy anyone. Always be unique and original, people love that and would become your loyal fans.
So go ahead and watch my video on how to record a video using Camtasia, you can use any other software you want but to be successful on YouTube requires what is detailed in this blog post. Do some research online, think about your passion or something you would like to work on in the future and start creating a video on that. Signing up on YouTube and uploading video does not require a single money from your side. So get up and start going.
